As expected, vivo showcased its top-tier camera flagship – the X300 Ultra at MWC. This was not an official announcement but a sneak peek at what’s to come, but the more important bit is that the X300 Ultra is confirmed to launch outside of China, which would make it the first vivo Ultra phone to do so. It remains to be seen which countries will get the device and there’s no word on pricing for now.

Vivo did not reveal the X300 Ultra’s actual design and key specs, but we did get to see its all-new teleconverter and camera rig. The verbosely named vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen2 Ultra brings an industry-leading 400mm equivalent focal range. That’s double the range of the extender found in last year’s vivo X200 Ultra Photography kit and will net you up to 17x optical zoom.

Thanks to in-sensor zoom cropping, the total zoom range between the X300 Ultra and its teleconverter can reach up to 800mm. Vivo proudly claims the new kit supports full 200MP optical output, with “pristine image quality even at a 1600mm digital crop”.

But that’s not the only bit of camera kit, as vivo also announced a Camera Cage, which transforms the X300 Ultra into a portable video rig. It features several mounts for attachments like a flash, multi-level cooling fan and a tripod. It also features physical shutter buttons and quick-release ports.

Vivo did not confirm any camera specs for the X300 Ultra but according to the latest spec rumors the device will feature an updated 200MP main cam using Sony’s LYT901 sensor alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto module with Samsung’s HPB sensor. The device will also allegedly feature a 50MP Sony LYT828 ultrawide lens and a multispectral sensor.
