Anne Hathaway is entering the CoHo cinematic universe.
The Princess Diaries star has been cast in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s chilling book Verity, the author confirmed on Instagram Nov. 20. The film will be directed by The Big Sick helmer Michael Showalter, who also led Hathaway in another book-to-movie adaptation: 2024’s The Idea of You.
This time, Hathaway will play fictional author Verity Crawford in the Amazon MGM Studios movie, according to multiple outlets.
When Verity is not able to finish her best-selling villain series after suffering a mysterious accident, her husband Jeremy Crawford hires up-and-coming author Lowen Ashleigh to write the final books. But while researching the novels, Lowen uncovers several of Verity’s family secrets that make her question reality.
Additional castings—including for the characters of Lowen and Jeremy—have not been revealed.
In addition to Hathaway and Showalter, the Verity team includes another creative who is all too familiar with the suspense genre: screenwriter Nick Antosca, who created The Act (starring Joey King as Gypsy Rose Blanchard) and Candy (starring Jessica Biel as Candy Montgomery).
