Event description
Leadership at theatres and arts organizations across the country are changing, with many of them moving to shared leadership models. However what that means in practice varies widely. Led by Leandro Zaneti (Evolution Management Consultants) and Daniel Park (Obvious Agency), panelists from Art.Coop, HERE Arts Center, and the Latinx Theatre Commons will dig deep into what we actually mean when we say, “Leadership” and how the concept intersects with power, the values that drive different forms and styles of leadership, and the pros and cons of various organizational structure.

About the hosts
Evolution Management Consultants (EMC) is a new consulting firm working to support the development of a non-profit sector that is increasingly healthy, inclusive, expansive, and forward-thinking. We offer search and strategic planning consulting services to help non-profits understand their past and examine their present in order to be intentional about their future. EMC places our clients as a top priority by providing a highly individualized and boutique experience throughout our process.
Obvious Agency is a worker-owned cooperative and performance company dedicated to the creation of an engaging, democratic, and liberatory cultural ecosystem. We support our clients in creating workplaces where power, information, and money are more equitably shared. We believe that when staff at all levels of an organization feel a sense of ownership over the whole, we create stronger and more resilient cultural institutions that put people over profit, and that make better and more impactful art. We know this because since 2016 we’ve been doing it ourselves. Our team are experts in democratic management and advocates for the solidarity economy and have worked with a range of organizations including ArtPlace America, Creatives Rebuild New York, Theatre of the Oppressed NYC, and more.
