Things cooled off in terms of announcements this week and that gave room for a boatload of rumors to fill in our news section.
Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy S25 Ultra with a larger 6.86-inch screen and slimmer bezels rumored to measure 2.3 mm compared to 3.35mm on the S24 Ultra. The upcoming Samsung flagship should offer slightly rounded corners which should help make it easier to handle.
New leaks revealed the color options for the iPhone 16 Pro series. It seems Apple has settled for White, Black, Gray, and Gold all of which will carry the Titanium prefix.
Leaked slides for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset shed more light on what we can expect. The flagship chip will be built on a 3nm node with eight core formation and Oryon CPU cores. The CPU will be aided by an Adreno 8-series GPU with improvements in performance and efficiency as well as new NPU and a “Low-Power AI” (LPAI) subsystem.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro emerged in a certification listing with 90W fast charging. Samsung’s Galaxy A16 5G will offer a 5,000 mAh battery cell as per a listing on China’s 3C agency.
Outside of the rumor mill, Tecno announced its Spark Go 1 budget phone with a Unisoc T615 chipset, a 90Hz LCD and a 5,000 mAh battery.
Qualcomm also made its Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 official which arrives as a successor to the 7s Gen 2 from last year. The new chip promises 20% better CPU performance, 40% faster GPU, 30% better AI performance and 12% power savings compared to its predecessor. The new chip is expected to debut in a Xiaomi phone as early as next month.
We also got some samples showing out the new Zoom Enhance feature coming Google’s Pixel 9 series and the Pixel 8 Pro. Samsung expanded the Circle to Search functionality to include music recognition.
They were shared by Google’s own Peyman Milanfar, who worked on this feature. Zoom Enhance was originally announced back in October 2023.
