Bret Taylor, board chair at OpenAI and CEO of AI agent startup Sierra<\/a>, was asked in a recent interview with The Verge<\/a> whether he agreed with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman\u2019s declaration<\/a> that \u201csomeone is going to lose a phenomenal amount of money in AI.\u201d<\/p>\n Taylor echoed Altman\u2019s sentiments, suggesting that we are indeed in an AI bubble \u2014 but like Altman, he didn\u2019t sound too worried about it.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it is both true that AI will transform the economy, and I think it will, like the internet, create huge amounts of economic value in the future,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cI think we\u2019re also in a bubble, and a lot of people will lose a lot of money. I think both are absolutely true at the same time, and there\u2019s a lot of historical precedent for both of those things being true at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n Specifically, Taylor compared today\u2019s AI landscape to the dot-com bubble of the late \u201890s. While many companies failed when the bubble burst, he argued that \u201call the people in 1999 were kind of right.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
