The Las Vegas Sphere <\/strong>has an oft-repeated policy of not commenting on which A-lister might or might not be in its headlining pipeline. So the very first time an exec actually does it, you can be sure of one thing \u2014 other than the reprimand and\/or pink slip that the exec received\u2026<\/p>\n

They were telling the truth.<\/p>\n

Last week, the US Sun<\/em><\/a> ran a story claiming that the biggest performer in the history of performing is considering the Sphere as a venue for her 2027 tour.<\/p>\n

The story quoted an \u201cunnamed source\u201d that we suspect was just a Swiftie whose inside information was deduced from the title of her idol\u2019s latest album, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Puck News\u00a0<\/em>got the real scoop by managing to quote a venue spokesperson as saying: \u201cWhile we love and respect Taylor Swift, we are not in conversations with her team about a residency at Sphere.\u201d<\/p>\n

But any worthwhile industry observer already knew that.<\/p>\n

The Sphere only accommodates 18,600 people. That\u2019s only between a half and a quarter of Swift\u2019s nightly touring audience.<\/p>\n

To be sure, the Sphere would die <\/em>to book her. It would instantly elevate it from the <\/em>venue in Vegas to the<\/em> venue the world over. In fact, the globular wonder probably did<\/em> make an offer.<\/p>\n

But the Sphere is not in the business of losing money. (Well, it\u2019s not intentionally<\/em> in that business anyway.) In order to hand Swift the same promoter payday she\u2019ll earn in stadiums \u2014 and <\/em>cover the $10 million cost of Sphere video effects just for a handful of gigs \u2014 ticket prices would most likely need to start at $1,000 for the nosebleed seats.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s before<\/em> resellers would demand 10 to 20 times more once those sell out.<\/p>\n

This would render any Sphere concerts accessible only to the private-jet class, and that\u2019s not the kind of performer Taylor Swift wants to be.<\/p>\n

Backstreet Boys Can be Your Valentine!<\/h2>\n

Speaking of the globular wonder, Backstreet Boys <\/strong>keep extending their \u201cInto The Millennium\u201d residency as long as the market will bear. (They\u2019ve performed for nearly 350K fans over 21 sold-out shows this summer so far.)<\/p>\n

The latest addition is seven shows that keep the (former) boy band busy past Valentine\u2019s Day (Feb. 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, and 15).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re overwhelmed by the love and support these past few weeks,\u201d read a joint statement from the band. \u201cTo the fans who\u2019ve been with us for 30 years \u2014 and the new ones just joining the party \u2014 thank you from the bottom of our hearts.\u201c<\/p>\n

The new dates go on sale to the general public at 11 a.m. PT Friday, Aug. 22 via Ticketmaster. They join the already-announced dates this weekend (Aug. 22\u201324), plus Dec. 26\u201328, 30\u201331and January 2\u20133.<\/p>\n

Blake Shelton<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cLive in Las Vegas\u201d residency returns to the Colosseum<\/strong> at Caesars Palace<\/strong> for eight shows (Jan. 15, 18, 21, 23, 24, 28, 30 and 31).<\/p>\n

After a six-show debut in February that mixed country charm with Vegas mischief, Shelton\u2019s ready to double down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a hell of a time earlier this year,\u201d the country singer said in a statement. \u201cSo I figured \u2014 why not do it again? This time we\u2019re cranking up the country, pouring a few extra cocktails, and probably making some decisions I\u2019ll regret in the morning. Let\u2019s go, Vegas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tickets go on on sale 10 am PT Thursday, Aug. 28 via Ticketmaster. A fan presale is underway now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
