This weekend, Toby<\/a>, Anton<\/a>, and I went to our friend Erika\u2019s<\/a> baby shower\u2026<\/p>\n

As soon as we walked into the restaurant<\/a>, we realized the baby shower would be as chic and down-to-earth as Erika is. First off, men were invited, so her husband Christian, her father-in-law, and guy friends mingled among the ladies, and of course I got to bring my own two boys. They adore Erika<\/a> because she\u2019s funny, friendly, and sweet enough to talk basketball with them; we even went to a Liberty game together<\/a> a few months ago.<\/p>\n

Sandwiches, pastries, and grocery-store sheet cake (from Wegmans! so good!) ran down the bar, and we drank iced coffees. A two-tiered cake stand offered up their favorite cookies from childhood: monster cookies for Erika, and linzer tarts for Christian. White balloons bopped against the ceiling, and the couple\u2019s own baby photos stood framed on the tables.<\/p>\n

But my favorite part? Erika\u2019s sister Sarah<\/a> had created the most adorable scrapbook for the baby.<\/p>\n

When I asked her about it, Sarah said it was easy: she\u2019d bought a Semikolon guest book<\/a> and stuck in self-adhesive library pockets<\/a>. Then, she snapped guests\u2019 photos with a mini instant camera<\/a> and taped them on each page.<\/p>\n

I liked that the notecards had prompts, so you immediately got ideas for what to write. \u201cI wanted something that resembled a library card,\u201d Sarah told me. \u201cSo, I designed cards on Canva<\/a>, printed them on cardstock<\/a>, and cut them out.\u201d <\/p>\n

The boys and I filled out our cards. I loved reading their answers \u2014\u00a0Anton said the baby\u2019s first book should be Brown Bear<\/em> (his own favorite from his baby days<\/a>) and Toby leveled up with The Great Gatsby<\/em>. My answer? cupofjo.com<\/a>, of course.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe read all the notes last night, just Christian and me,\u201d Erika<\/a> told me today. \u201cSome were goofy; some were emotional. We both cried.\u201d<\/p>\n
