The following year, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced<\/a> his office was opening a civil rights investigation into the Riverside County Sheriff\u2019s Office to determine if it had \u201cengaged in a pattern or practice of unconstitutional policing amid deeply concerning allegations relating to conditions of confinement in its jail facilities, excessive force, and other misconduct.\u201d<\/p>\n In a video posted to social media, Bianco \u2014 wearing his sheriff\u2019s uniform \u2014 has called Bonta<\/a> \u201can embarrassment to law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n A board vote on Wednesday to establish whether Riverside County needed an oversight committee and inspector general to oversee the sheriff\u2019s office failed. Bianco called the move \u201canti-law enforcement,\u201d<\/a> according to NPR affiliate KVCR.<\/p>\n Miyamoto said he considers Bianco a friend whom he connected with through the quarterly meetings of the state sheriff\u2019s association, and sees benefits in his relationship with Bianco, even if they don\u2019t see eye-to-eye politically.
