I\u2019m just here out of rage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marta Guerrero and her daughter Karina Soto, both of whom are educators, said they were at the protest in San Jos\u00e9 to support democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know what this country can be, the promise of this country,\u201d said Soto. \u201cWe have to fight for it, because I had no idea how quickly it could be taken enforcement via deportations .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransgender people are one of the most highly ostracized and persecuted minorities in this country, and they continue to receive only more pushback, more a rally in Oakland, which organizers say drew an estimated 10,000 demonstrators, Denise Martin emphasized immigration rights and gay rights as key motivators for coming out to protest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are the people and we want to be heard,\u201d Martin said. \u201cOur freedom is important to all of us, and the Constitution. \u2026 Nobody\u2019s above the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Giving a speech at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland Councilmember Carroll Fife said she hadn\u2019t seen such a big crowd in 30 years. That is the most patriotic thing they could do. We are patriots and we are not ceding ground to the right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congresswoman Lateefah Simon praised what she called \u201cthe most diverse congressional district in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe smell the stench of fascism,\u201d said Simon. \u201cLet me say this to the president of the United States: you don\u2019t get to storm the Capitol, lie to our people, defund the future, and then return four years later, demanding a crown. We say: Hell no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Konani Chinn, 20, described the crowd of\u00a0 thousands gathered in Oakland as \u201csuper powerful\u201d and praised everyone who came out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes a lot of effort for everyone to come out here, especially like I mean this protest is mostly older white people who are privileged. \u2026 Protests that I\u2019ve been to personally in the past few years have been a lot of young people, more like marginalized people who are actively being affected. Trump federalized the National Guard on June 7, deploying 2,000 Guard troops, and later 700 Marines, to respond to the protests. Gov. Yesterday, they assaulted a U.S. senator. So this is all behavior of a fascist regime,\u201d Soroceanu said, referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/12043957\/california-sen-alex-padilla-forced-to-ground-handcuffed-by-agents-at-dhs-briefing\">an incident Thursday<\/a> when California Sen.
