Labor leader David Huerta was detained while documenting and protesting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/12043346\/sf-rallies-for-david-huerta-california-union-leader-arrested-in-la-immigration-raid\">workplace raid in downtown LA\u2019s garment district<\/a>. Video of the arrest shows him being violently knocked to the ground, his head resting on the curb.<\/p>\n<p>Huerta was released from custody on Monday on a $50,000 bond. Marchers were energized \u2014 as if this were the moment many had long been waiting for. Jackie Gain said it reminded her of the 2020 protests after George Floyd\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone\u2019s just uniting to fight back. It\u2019s what we need,\u201d said Gain, who has lived in the city for a decade. \u201cFighting for all the people that have been sent away, people that are, you know, fearful of being sent away. She noted that more than a dozen people, including a 3-year-old child, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/12042887\/ice-arrests-15-people-in-san-francisco-including-a-child\">arrested at the ICE office in San Francisco on June 4<\/a> after appearing for check-in appointments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank all of the people that are protesting from LA to here in SF, because when the government turns on its own people, it\u2019s up to the people to put the government in check,\u201d Fielder said. \u201cICE is not promoting public safety. It\u2019s promoting violence and racism.
