Rabbi Sydney Mintz, of Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, said she also worried that while \u201cnothing good\u201d has come from the aftermath of Oct. 7, those who support Israel\u2019s existence are being blamed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very, obviously very challenging time for Palestinian people, for the Jewish people,\u201d Mintz said, \u201cbut it\u2019s like this conflation \u2014 of kind of holding American Jews responsible for what\u2019s happening in Gaza \u2014 it\u2019s come to a head.\u201d<\/p>\n
Run for Their Lives, which has no formal political affiliation, has focused solely on advocating for the release of the 58 remaining hostages in Gaza, a third of whom are believed to be alive.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Run for Their Lives said the group \u201cremains committed to our mission until ALL the HOSTAGES are returned back home,\u201d calling their plight a \u201chumanitarian crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n
From San Francisco to Sao Paulo, the group\u2019s weekly demonstrations continue as war in Gaza rages with no end in sight. The Gaza Health Ministry has reported more than 54,000 deaths \u2014 mostly women and children \u2014 amidst Israel\u2019s siege. The United Nations last week described<\/a> Gaza as \u201cthe hungriest place on Earth,\u201d as Israeli authorities limit relief to a starving Palestinian population.<\/p>\n Rabbi Cat Zavis, of Oakland, condemned the violence in Boulder while also calling for an end to the broader conflict.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople have been on the streets for over 600 days and nothing\u2019s stopping it,\u201d Zavis said. \u201cPeople are feeling desperate and enraged \u2026 the vast majority are engaging in nonviolent civil disobedience and struggle. Unfortunately, horrifically, unethically, immorally and illegally \u2014 wrongly, if you will \u2014 some people are starting to respond in violent ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
