When\u00a0<\/strong>Ventura didn\u2019t join Combs right when he called for her on one occasion, Phillip testified May 12 that Combs threw a liquor bottle in her direction, then grabbed her by her hair and dragged her into the bedroom. \u201cShe was screaming,\u201d Phillip said, and, from the next room, \u201dwhat I heard sounded like him slapping her.\u201d Phillip said he heard Combs say, \u201c\u2019I tell you to come here, you come here now, not later.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Phillip said he was \u201cterrified\u201d and did not intervene.<\/p>\n He further testified that he overheard what sounded like Combs assaulting Ventura on a separate occasion at the Essex House hotel in New York. \u201cI heard her yelling, ‘I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m sorry,’ someone was being slapped around and slammed around the room,” Phillip said. “And I looked around the corner and I saw Mr. Combs walk out of the hotel altogether without clothes, he might have had a towel on.\u201d<\/p>\n Ventura came out of the room and jumped into Phillip\u2019s lap, he testified. \u201cShe basically tried to convince me that ‘it’s OK’ and ‘I\u2019ll be OK,\u2019\u201d Phillip continued. \u201cAnd I said, ‘It is not OK and you need to get help.’\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,\u201d Phillip said.<\/p>\n Asked by prosecutor Maureen Comey<\/strong> why he didn\u2019t call the police, Phillip testified that he thought of Combs as \u201csomeone with unlimited power, and chances are, even if I did go to the police, that I might still end up losing my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
