A limited supply of modern GameCube controllers will be available for the Switch 2 which is adding games like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker<\/em> and F-Zero GX <\/em>to its Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription. Yay! But Nintendo also clarified<\/a><\/span> that \u201cthe controller is only compatible with Nintendo GameCube: Nintendo Classics.\u201d Boo! <\/p>\n However, the company also had a similar disclaimer for the NES and N64 controller re-issues on the current console, which did<\/em> work with some Switch games. So it\u2019s still possible you might<\/em> be able to play Mario Kart World<\/em> or, more importantly, the next Smash Bros.<\/em> with the GameCube controller, it\u2019s just not something Nintendo is committing to across the board.<\/p>\n Update 4\/23\/25 4:14 p.m. ET:<\/strong> Nintendo sent Polygon<\/em><\/a><\/span> a statement basically saying it won\u2019t necessarily not<\/em> work with other games on the Switch 2 but the company\u2019s making no promises: \u201cSince it doesn\u2019t have all the buttons and features found in other controllers that can be used with the Nintendo Switch 2 system, there may be some issues when playing other games,\u201d the company wrote. \u2014EG<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
