By the time Maeve Harrigan is casually suggesting the assassination of a grieving mother as \u201cPlan B,\u201d you realize the Harrigans don\u2019t really do<\/em> strategy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They do theater and spectacle. Most of all, they do survival at any cost, preferably with as much psychological damage as possible.<\/p>\n

MobLand Season 2 Episode 3 takes everything that\u2019s been simmering in the first two hours \u2014 grief, revenge, dysfunction, and half-whispered threats \u2014 and turns it into something colder, more calculating.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The bomb that opens the episode may not kill anyone, but emotionally, it\u2019s a declaration of war.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And by the end of the hour, there\u2019s no mistaking who\u2019s willing to get their hands bloody\u2026 or who already has.<\/p>\n

The Setup Is Explosive, But the Fallout Is All Psychology<\/h2>\n

Kevin\u2019s house gets blown to bits, and instead of calling the cops or retreating from danger, he calls Harry, which says a lot, honestly. That these two men, bound by shared prison history and emotional damage, trust each other more than any actual authority.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Harry doesn\u2019t flinch \u2014 he gets his wife and daughter moving, calls in a favor from an old mate with a boat (who\u2019s reluctant, sure, but thirty grand in debt to him and short on options), and starts preparing for something bigger.<\/p>\n

And Jan and Gina? They barely blink. These are women trained by proximity to chaos. Jan even has to remind Harry about his ten o\u2019clock meeting, as if their house wasn\u2019t almost just firebombed. That says something about the life Harry\u2019s built for them \u2014 it\u2019s not safe, but, hey, it is structured.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know what it says about me, but I found comfort in how calm they all were. Like part of me thought, Okay, maybe I could live like this if the people around me could keep the schedule intact.<\/em> That\u2019s the Harrigan-adjacent brain rot talking, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Eddie Continues to Be the Absolute Worst<\/h2>\n

Every family has one. Eddie is that guy \u2014 the loose cannon with no sense of consequence, who thinks tough talk makes up for stunning levels of ineptitude.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019s the reason Tommy\u2019s dead, the reason Kevin\u2019s house got bombed, and the reason Harry and Kevin are now committing full-blown war crimes in a shipping container.<\/p>\n

When they confront Eddie with Tommy\u2019s actual remains and the club owner Valjon, it\u2019s brutal and sickening, not just because of what happened but because of how quiet<\/em> Eddie is. He doesn\u2019t deny anything. He barely even reacts. If there\u2019s remorse in there, it\u2019s buried deep under layers of cowardice.<\/p>\n

And I have to admit that silence rattled me more than a shouting match would. You expect panic and brace for denial. But nothing? That made me wonder if Eddie even remembers what a human connection is supposed to look like.<\/p>\n

Harry Da Souza, the Family\u2019s Most Important Asset<\/h2>\n

Harry isn\u2019t a Harrigan \u2014 not by blood. He\u2019s a Da Souza, a fixer, a former enforcer turned strategist with just enough humanity to make things messy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not in this for the power or the legacy. He\u2019s in this because he owes things \u2014 money, favors, pieces of his soul. And maybe because walking away doesn\u2019t feel like an option anymore.<\/p>\n

His use of Valjon is a masterclass in manipulation. He pretends to play bad cop while Kevin, a proper Harrigan, plays slightly less bad cop. They dangle hope just long enough to break down Valjon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And when Harry finally explains the plan? It\u2019s not that Valjon will be spared. It\u2019s that his family<\/em> will be taken care of after he dies. That\u2019s Harry\u2019s version of mercy. Not the Harrigans\u2019, his.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s be clear \u2014 this<\/em> is Plan B.<\/p>\n

Plan A, as outlined by Conrad, is a full-scale war. Kill Richie. Kill Richie\u2019s entire inner circle. Burn the whole thing down. Maeve\u2019s Plan B is to kill Richie\u2019s wife to see him suffer before<\/em> taking him out.<\/p>\n

But Harry\u2019s Plan B is the Hail Mary: pin it all on Valjon, convince Richie it was a personal betrayal, and hope the chain reaction stops there. <\/p>\n

Harry doesn\u2019t necessarily believe it\u2019ll work \u2014 he\u2019s too smart for that \u2014 but he also knows what Plan A looks like, and he\u2019s trying to delay it as long as he can.<\/p>\n

What would I do in Harry\u2019s place? I don\u2019t know. I like to think I wouldn\u2019t let anyone die for me, certainly not some club owner I barely know. But then I watch him try to keep Jan and Gina safe while everyone else keeps escalating, and it makes me wonder\u2026 maybe there\u2019s no clean way out of this once you\u2019re in.<\/p>\n

Plan B Isn\u2019t a Strategy \u2014 It\u2019s an Exposure<\/h2>\n

The episode\u2019s title becomes more loaded the longer you think about it. On the surface, Maeve\u2019s Plan B \u2014 targeting Vron, Richie\u2019s grieving wife \u2014 feels grotesque. It\u2019s revenge theater, needlessly cruel. But what\u2019s unnerving is how close that kind of logic is to Harry\u2019s version of a workaround.<\/p>\n

Maeve wants to destroy Richie psychologically before the actual hit. She\u2019s not rushing into murder \u2014 she\u2019s savoring<\/em> it. And yet, Harry\u2019s pitch isn\u2019t much cleaner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His Plan B involves offering up Valjon \u2014 a man none of them truly know \u2014 to be tortured and killed by Richie, as a way of sparing their own lives. Valjon gets to be the scapegoat in a deadly game none of them are brave enough to admit is already lost.<\/p>\n

So whose Plan B is worse?<\/p>\n

Maeve\u2019s is overtly cruel, but at least it\u2019s personal. Harry\u2019s is quieter, colder \u2014 the kind of decision that comes with just enough rationalization to sleep at night. And that\u2019s what makes it so MobLand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a show about good guys and bad guys. It\u2019s about people making bad choices for what they tell themselves are good reasons. And when survival\u2019s the only metric, it becomes disturbingly easy to call cruelty a compromise.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know if I could sleep after making either call. But I do know most of the people in this world aren\u2019t sleeping either.<\/p>\n

The Kids Are Not Alright, and Neither Is Bella<\/h2>\n

Bella\u2019s storyline continues to simmer just outside the main action. I\u2019m not sure how it will eventually tie into the bigger picture, but now it has crossed a dangerous line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She tried to play influence-peddling power broker and accidentally handed leverage to a snake. Antoine is threatening her now. Unless she pays up, he\u2019ll expose her scheme to her father. Harry tells her it\u2019s more dangerous than she realizes, maybe even more dangerous than the bomb that leveled her home.<\/p>\n

And then she asks the question that hangs over everyone in this world: Why does Harry keep doing this? Why does he stay loyal to a monster like Conrad?<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s answer isn\u2019t simple because MobLand<\/a> doesn\u2019t deal in simple. He says, \u201cWe\u2019re all monsters.\u201d And maybe that\u2019s true. Perhaps he knows there\u2019s no way out. Or maybe the version of him who dreams about parallel universes and kisses he\u2019ll never give in to does<\/em> want out, but can\u2019t see the exit.<\/p>\n

Who doesn\u2019t have an \u201cother life\u201d fantasy? I\u2019ve been there, wondering if there\u2019s some version of me in another timeline who made different choices and got off the ride sooner. At least mine doesn\u2019t come from desperate survival and trying to dodge a body count.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, \u201cPlan B\u201d doesn\u2019t just refer to the fallback strategy if Richie won\u2019t go quietly. It relates to everyone\u2019s second self \u2014 the part of them that acts when the mask slips.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s Plan B is a man who comforts cleaners and hides bodies in caskets. Maeve\u2019s is a woman who would kill a mother to send a message. Eddie\u2019s\u2026 well, Eddie is<\/em> Plan B, and that\u2019s the problem.<\/p>\n

The Harrigans don\u2019t think they\u2019re evil. They think they\u2019re efficient, protecting something that matters. But when the best-case scenario still involves someone getting tortured in a shipping container, you have to wonder: is anyone actually in charge here?<\/p>\n

Or are they all just making it up as they go, hoping the plan doesn\u2019t blow up the next house on the block?<\/p>\n
