Tre Johnson broke one of Kevin Durant’s records at Texas. Now Johnson will follow Durant as players who spent just one year with the Longhorns before entering the NBA.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Johnson, the Southeastern Conference’s freshman of the year, announced Tuesday he declaring for the draft.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The 6-foot-6 guard led the SEC in points per game (19.9) — just the sixth freshman to lead the conference in that category — and minutes per game (34.7) while also averaging 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He shot 39.7 percent from 3-point range, good for second in the conference.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Against Arkansas on Feb. 26, Johnson tallied 39 points to break Durant’s program record for most points by a freshman in a game.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Johnson helped Texas finish with a 19-16 record, losing to Xavier in the First Four portion of the NCAA Tournament.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
