Connor finally got a story, and it was the sweetest plot in Georgie and Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been my favorite character since the series premiere, and I always get excited when he gets more than a few throwaway jokes.<\/p>\n

Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/a> Season 1 Episode 15 revolved around Connor\u2019s interest in a girl who works at a local music store, and it went way better than I could ever have imagined.<\/p>\n

The Day After World Autism Day, Sweet, Awkward Connor Had The Most Successful First Date Ever<\/h2>\n

Connor\u2019s never been diagnosed autistic or anything else, but I have no doubt he\u2019s neurodivergent.<\/p>\n

His social awkwardness, obscure interests, and general stubbornness remind me a lot of my autistic self.<\/p>\n

That made it doubly sweet that he not only found a way to ask Chloe out but also scored a second date (if he remembers to follow up).<\/p>\n

Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 Episode 15 aired on April 3 \u2014 the day after World Autism Day, so that made this story even more special to me.<\/p>\n

That said, the best thing about this story was that it flowed organically. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s so easy to write a story that\u2019s meant to honor neurodivergent characters but ends up being preachy or saccharine, and \u201cGoddess of the Music Store\u201d didn\u2019t fall into either of those traps.<\/p>\n

Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 Episode 15 Built On Georgie and Connor\u2019s Special Bond<\/h2>\n

While the McAllisters were surprised that Connor turned to Georgie for advice about how to speak to a girl, I wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Throughout Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1<\/a>, it\u2019s slowly been established that Georgie relates to Connor in a way Connor\u2019s parents can\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Georgie understands and accepts Connor\u2019s quirks because of his experience growing up with Sheldon. <\/p>\n

I much prefer this story, in which Georgie regrets not being tolerant of Sheldon\u2019s idiosyncrasies, to the way the relationship between Georgie and Sheldon was described on The Big Bang Theory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The adult Georgie claimed he hadn\u2019t spoken to Sheldon in years because Sheldon abandoned the family for CalTech after George Sr.\u2019s death, leaving Georgie to take care of Missy and Mary.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t appear to be the way things went down anymore.<\/p>\n

Mary and Missy are an occasional part of Georgie\u2019s life, but he\u2019s got his own family\u2026 and just as importantly, he doesn\u2019t resent Sheldon anymore now that he has some distance from him.<\/p>\n

It makes sense that Georgie sees a lot of Sheldon in Connor and wants to connect with him in a way he never could with his brother.<\/p>\n

The Cooper family dynamics interfered with Georgie\u2019s closeness with Sheldon. Even if Sheldon hadn\u2019t been resistant to traditional brotherly relationships, Mary\u2019s over-attention to Sheldon left Georgie feeling ignored, and he began to believe he was stupid because he wasn\u2019t the genius his brother was.<\/p>\n

However, now that he\u2019s a father living away from his birth family, Georgie sees things differently, and he gets a second chance through Connor.<\/p>\n

How sweet is that?<\/p>\n

Getting back to Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 Episode 15, it was hardly surprising that Connor would confide in Georgie, considering their relationship history in the brief time they\u2019ve known each other.<\/p>\n

Connor has already established that he feels Georgie is the only person in his family who accepts him for who he is and that he prefers Georgie to his birth family.<\/p>\n

Plus, he probably views Georgie\u2019s marriage to Mandy as an example of a successful relationship, even though Georgie fell into it by accident.<\/p>\n

That said, the family\u2019s reactions to being left out were hilarious.<\/p>\n

Every McAllister\u2019s Reaction Was True To Their Character <\/h2>\n

The McAllisters were all being ridiculous, but that provided some of the best humor in this story.<\/p>\n

I especially liked Mandy\u2019s reaction when Georgie first told her about Connor\u2019s interest in Chloe. She reverted back into teenagehood, eager for any bit of gossip she could get her hands on.<\/p>\n

I have four 14-year-olds in my family who I see regularly, so the idea of an older person acting the way they do when it comes to relationship gossip had me doubled over laughing.<\/p>\n

However, I\u2019ll give an honorable mention to Jim and Audrey\u2019s bedroom scene on Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 Episode 15.<\/p>\n

Jim\u2019s monotone delivery about how much he wanted to talk about sex with Connor was almost as hilarious as Mandy\u2019s hunger for gossip.<\/p>\n

Of course, Audrey didn\u2019t find anything funny about the situation. She felt left out, like she always does.<\/p>\n

Rachel Bay Jones has been doing a great job of humanizing Audrey. <\/p>\n

On Young Sheldon,<\/a> she was purely annoying, but she\u2019s far more well-rounded here.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s a wife and mother who doesn\u2019t understand why her kids won\u2019t talk to her about anything important, is often insecure, and is worried about Mandy\u2019s future now that Mandy is attached to Georgie.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Talk About Connor\u2019s Date <\/h2>\n

I didn\u2019t expect Connor\u2019s date to go as well as it did \u2014 did you?<\/p>\n

When Connor and Chloe began arguing about musical tastes, my heart broke prematurely for Connor.<\/p>\n

That brittle tone in his voice and insistence that his opinions about music were facts that everyone was supposed to conform to sounded like the beginning of everything unraveling.<\/p>\n

Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 Episode 15 surprised me when Chloe kissed him instead.<\/p>\n

Sparring about their differences seemed to turn her on.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m excited for Connor. This seems to be the girl for him, but we\u2019ll see how it goes as Georgie & Mandy\u2019s First Marriage Season 1 comes to a close.<\/p>\n
