One recent Saturday night, Freddie<\/a> and I\u2026<\/p>\n \u2026came home after hanging out with friends and decided to watch an episode of The Baldwins<\/a>. (Are you watching it? I\u2019m gripped.) We were both hungry, so Freddie pulled out a box of Corn Flakes, I grabbed the milk, and we sat at the counter and ate two bowls each while watching Hilaria and Alec figure out the car seating arrangements for their seven kids. This might not sound romantic, but, reader, I swooned<\/em>. Maybe because it felt so relationship-y? Now I can\u2019t look at a cereal box without my heart skipping a beat. <\/p>\n When I asked my group text<\/a> what foods feel romantic, my friend Jessie Randall<\/a> wrote back right away: \u201cWe had Chipwiches<\/a> at our wedding reception. Sometimes Brian will bring me one from the deli, which is such a nice gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n Food writer Adam Roberts\u2019s<\/a> answer leans more savory: \u201cRoast chicken<\/a> with root vegetables, a nice bottle of wine, and warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert \u2014\u00a0that\u2019s my husband Craig\u2019s<\/a> \u2018welcome home\u2019 meal after he\u2019s been away from home for a long time, and it feels so cozy and comforting.\u201d <\/p>\n Drinks can be sweet, too, of course. \u201cIn the evening, my fianc\u00e9 and I like to split an Olipop<\/a>, as if it\u2019s some kind of treat,\u201d says cookbook author Eric Kim<\/a>. \u201cWe pour it into vintage wine glasses we found together in Philly, and it adds a little sparkle to our evening. It\u2019s a small thing but constant.\u201d<\/p>\n What about foods that are decidedly not<\/em> romantic? \u201cThe disgusting pastrami sandwich my husband got from the hospital and ate at my bedside while I was in labor,\u201d laughed my friend Liz Libr\u00e9<\/a>. \u201cThe butcher paper grazed my arm.
