Conan O\u2019Brien<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>needs a rule book.<\/span><\/p>\n The 61-year-old, <\/span>who hosted<\/span><\/a> the <\/span>2025 Oscars<\/span><\/a> earlier this month, revealed that some of his ideas for the show were blocked due to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences\u2019 strict rules about their iconic Oscars statue, which is aptly named Oscar.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAt one point, I thought, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be great if it\u2019s just on the couch?\u2019\u201d Conan said on the March 13 episode of his <\/span>Conan Needs a Friend<\/span><\/em><\/a> podcast. \u201cLet\u2019s lay it on a really big couch and I\u2019ll be vacuuming and say, \u2018Could you at least lift your feet? Or could you at least get up and help? Load the dishwasher?\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n As he recalled, his humorous promo idea was met with the Oscars team responding, \u201cNo, no no, that can\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOne of the people from the Academy came forward and said, \u2018Oscar can never be horizontal,\u2019\u201d Conan continued. \u201cThat blew my mind. Like, wow, this is like the thigh bone of St. Peter. This is a religious icon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But the organization behind Hollywood\u2019s biggest night didn\u2019t just poopoo on Conan\u2019s couch idea: According to Conan, when his team suggested they depict the trophy as a housewife in an apron serving the host leftovers, that bit was quickly shot down as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
