{"id":91926,"date":"2025-03-09T02:18:48","date_gmt":"2025-03-09T02:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neclink.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/09\/every-trip-to-the-grocery-store\/"},"modified":"2025-03-09T02:18:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-09T02:18:48","slug":"every-trip-to-the-grocery-store","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neclink.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/09\/every-trip-to-the-grocery-store\/","title":{"rendered":"Every Trip to the Grocery Store"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>When my now-16-year-old was a just-talking baby (12-18 months?), she would perform this hilarious greeting to strangers as we made our way through the grocery store: She would look at a stranger from her perch in the cart and gently say, \u201cHi!\u201d If the stranger didn\u2019t reply, she would say it louder: \u201cHI!\u201d And if the stranger still didn\u2019t reply, she would lean their direction and yell, \u201cHIIIIIIII!\u201d This usually got a response (and a smile). Better still, if we were walking the opposite direction down the aisle from the stranger and then we both turned down the NEXT aisle from opposite sides, the ritual would begin again with the same person, as if my daughter hadn\u2019t just hollered her greeting to them 30 seconds before.
