I love seeing a single family photo hung on a wall, or taped somewhere slightly random \u2014\u00a0it feels like a surprise treat. Above, I leaned a snapshot of my dad and Anton<\/a> on my bedroom bookcase<\/a>; Liz Libr\u00e9<\/a> taped up her baby\u2019s sonogram; and Holly Howe<\/a> put a wedding photo next to the bathroom sink. They all make me smile.<\/p>\n

Our beloved Jenny<\/a> came up with a brilliant care-package formula<\/a>: book + beauty product + baked good. You make it personal by choosing items \u201cbased on the recipient\u2019s literary and baked good proclivities,\u201d she says. Thoughts? Two of my loved ones are recovering from surgeries, and I\u2019m grateful for this game plan.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to spring and summer, I\u2019m stocking up on my all-time favorite sunscreen<\/a> \u2014\u00a0with the best best best scent<\/a> \u2014 which is on sale right now. Any other beauty finds you\u2019ve been loving lately?<\/p>\n

The New Yorker\u2019s short stories are consistently excellent \u2014 like, Emma Cline\u2019s creepy Upstate<\/a> and Rebecca Makkai\u2019s rollicking The Plaza<\/a> \u2014 and last night, I was DELIGHTED to climb into bed, flip open the current issue, and see Colm T\u00f3ib\u00edn\u2019s byline<\/a>. The Irish author writes some of my favorite books (Long Island<\/a>, most recently), which chronicle the inner worlds of reserved Irish characters so vividly that they end up feeling like page turners. I passed out before getting too far into the story, but tonight my plan is to take a long walk and listen to T\u00f3ib\u00edn read it himself<\/a>.<\/p>\n
