Fans of an iconic soul duo are mourning the loss of a R&B legend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Sam Moore<\/strong><\/a>, who made up one half of American soul group<\/span> Sam & Dave <\/strong>alongside<\/span> Dave Prater<\/strong>\u2014known for hits like \u201cHold On, I\u2019m Comin,\u2019\u201d \u201cSoul Man,\u201d and \u201cSoothe Me\u201d\u2014has died, his wife and manager <\/span>Joyce Moore<\/strong> confirmed to multiple<\/a> outlets<\/a>. He was 89.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The late singer died the morning of Jan. 10 in his Coral Gables, Fla., home, his wife said, following an unspecified surgery he underwent earlier this week. <\/span>Jeremy Westby<\/strong>, a representative for Sam, told<\/span> Rolling Stone<\/a><\/span><\/em> that he had died from \u201ccomplications recovering\u201d from his procedure, but an exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Alongside Dave, Sam was a fixture of the R&B community in the 1960s. The duo\u2019s song \u201cSoul Man\u201d went number two on the Billboard Hot 100 charts upon its 1967 release, going on to earn a Grammy<\/a> for Best R&B group performance at the 10th Annual Ceremony. The duo was nominated for three additional Grammy awards amid their active years, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
