“April 11 [2023], I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for an aspirin. I realized quickly that when you\u2019re in a medical emergency, your boys don\u2019t know what the f–k to do,” he said on What Had Happened Was<\/em>, released Dec. 10. “Before I could get the aspirin, I went out. I don\u2019t remember 20 days.”<\/p>\n

Following his hemorrhagic stroke, the actor underwent surgery and later had to relearn skills like walking and talking at a rehabilitation facility.<\/p>\n

“Twenty days I don\u2019t remember, but on May 4th I woke up,” he said. “And I when I woke up, I found myself in a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk, in a wheelchair, and I was like, ‘Why the f–k am I in a wheelchair?'”<\/p>\n

Foxx, father of daughters Corinne Foxx<\/a><\/strong>, 30, and\u00a0Anelise Bishop<\/strong>, 16, credits his family for keeping his medical condition private.<\/p>\n

“They didn\u2019t want you to see me like that. And I didn\u2019t want you to see me like that,\u201d Jamie said, getting emotional. \u201cI want you to see me like this.”<\/p>\n
