What little things have you been enjoying\/eating\/watching\/reading lately? As the days get darker (I\u2019m looking at you, 4:15 p.m.), I\u2019ve been on the lookout for extra glimmers<\/a>. First up is this Thanksgiving crew, which included both my parents, my two kids, and a smattering of friends. Since I\u2019m usually behind the camera, I tried to take a group shot, Oscars style<\/a>. It sort of worked?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My dad and Toby are looking more and more alike as the years go by. They\u2019re each the firstborn child in their respective<\/a> generation<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After we ate the big feast, I was tidying up, and my mom was doing the more urgent dishes, when our friend Aaron walked over. \u201cCould I have a turn?\u201d he asked. \u201cI like doing dishes.\u201d It was such a gracious offer, and seeing our friends helping with their sleeves rolled up made it feel like a big family.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The following weekend, we picked out a tall, narrow Christmas tree that looks like it\u2019s standing with perfect posture.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And if you\u2019re looking for a great read, the novel Long Island<\/a> has me gripped<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Plus, three more small things: My boyfriend\u2019s dog<\/a>, who is forever flipping over for belly rubs\u2026<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A cheese-forward snack plate\u2026<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And this beautiful paragraph from Gilead<\/a>. I\u2019ve long thought that boys get a bad rap in media and society \u2014\u00a0they\u2019re loud, they\u2019re stinky, they skulk around.<\/em> But in real life, I\u2019ve found them to be funny, eager, kind, chatty, contemplative, all the things. So, the phrase \u201cdecent rascally young fellows\u201d made my heart swell. Yes, John Ames, you get it!<\/p>\n
