The upgraded game is available now for PC, Xbox One and Series X\/S, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and to stream through NVIDIA GeForce Now.<\/p>\n<p>Originally developed by Computer Artworks, <em>The Thing <\/em>is a third-person shooter that acts a direct sequel to John Carpenter\u2019s 1984 film <em>The Thing<\/em>, following a United States Special Forces team that\u2019s sent into the film\u2019s arctic base to investigate what happened there. Outside the source material, the game is best known for its trust, fear, and infection systems. Now you can play in 4K at up to 120 fps, with improved \u201ccharacter models, textures, and animations,\u201d according to Nightdive\u2019s announcement, and \u201cadvanced 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects.\u201d The game also includes trophies and achievements on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, if you\u2019re looking for that, too.<\/p>\n<p>A remastered version of <em>The Thing<\/em> was <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/the-thing-remastered-is-the-next-revival-from-nightdive-studios-ign-live-2024\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:originally announced;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">originally announced<\/a> in June 2024 at IGN Live, the latest in a series of remastered game projects Nightdive Studios has announced in the last few years.
