(If they choose to side with the town of Goodsprings in the Ghost Town Gunfight, they need to prepare to defend it.)<\/p>\n<p>Goodsprings is the emotional center of \u201cFallout: New Vegas,\u201d which takes place 200 years after a nuclear war has destroyed most of the Earth. Since its release in October 2010, it\u2019s become one of the world\u2019s most popular video games, selling almost 12 million copies.<\/p>\n<p>Though key action scenes are set on the Las Vegas Strip and at Hoover Dam, Goodsprings is where players get introduced to the world of the post-nuclear Mojave Wasteland.<\/p>\n<p>The characters based on Siddons and other Goodspringers provide unconditional support while players learn their role \u2014 as a courier embroiled in a power struggle among warning mafiosos, tribal governments, and a tech billionaire with his own designs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought he looked just like me,\u201d Siddons replies when asked his reaction to seeing Easy Pete for the first time. \u201cHe acts like me, too \u2014 pretty much close, yeah. They mecca to its landmarks \u2014 the Pioneer (called the <em>Prospector<\/em> Saloon in the game), the Goodsprings General Store, the church and the cemetery \u2014 like Beatles fans to Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields in Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>For two days straight, Siddons and Pioneer owner Stephen \u201cOld Man Liver\u201d Staats, who is not featured in the game, lead tours of the landmarks and answer fan questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople usually just tell me what the game means to them,\u201d says Siddons, whose theory is that it is so beloved because it\u2019s \u201cabout real people, real characters, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think everybody is a character, if you get to know them,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>Siddons says he still has yet to play \u201cFallout: New Vegas\u201d for more than a few minutes at a clip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI catch little pieces of it when other people play,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<h2>Plain as Pete<\/h2>\n<p>Siddons was raised near Fresno. (Image: Pioneer Saloon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He worked for years in the California desert as a landscaper before moving to Goodsprings about 20 years ago. It\u2019s where his mother relocated, he says. She got a job bartending at the Pioneer and needed a hand fixing up her house. Now she lives in Laughlin, Nev.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been there ever since,\u201d Siddons says of Goodsprings, which is about 40 miles southwest of Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he thinks about the \u201cFallout\u201d phenomenon, Siddons answers, with bemused restraint: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was paid a flat fee, not a royalty, for the use of his likeness. When asked whether that plays into his feelings, Siddons replies: \u201cI\u2019m not upset at that \u2014 not at all. That\u2019s probably why they called my character \u2018Easy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Pioneering Saloon<\/h2>\n<p>Before video games, the Pioneer, which opened in 1913, was mostly famous for the hosting a despondent Clark Gable during the saddest days of his life in January 1942. \u00a0The A-list movie star used the bar as his base while awaiting word on the fate of his wife, fellow A-lister Carole Lombard. Lombard perished when TWA Flight 3 crashed into nearby Potosi Mountain.<\/p>\n<p>Heartbreak also darkens Siddons\u2019 backstory. There was once a Mrs. Gordy Siddons. For how long, he won\u2019t say, but she died six years ago of cirrhosis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think about her all the time,\u201d he says, \u201cbut you go on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They have a daughter together, whom Siddons describes only as \u201calready grown and gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t seen or talked to her for quite a while,\u201d he says, indicating that he doesn\u2019t know whether his bizarre form of newfound fame is something she even knows about.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, Siddons claims he remains unchanged by how much everything has changed around him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m the same old me,\u201d he says, adding, \u201cexcept I got a little bit more pull at the Pioneer now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/pete-greet-the-man-who-inspired-the-fallout-new-vegas-character\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Posted on: December 1, 2024, 03:23h.\u00a0 Last updated on: December 1, 2024, 03:42h.
