If you\u2019ve never browned butter before, it can seem intimidating, but it\u2019s easier than you think! Follow these simple steps, and you\u2019ll want to add browned butter to all of your cookie recipes! Try my <a href=\"https:\/\/therecipecritic.com\/brown-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">browned butter chocolate chip cookies<\/a> next!<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-fancy\">\n<li><strong>Brown the Butter:<\/strong> Add the butter to a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat for 6-8 minutes, until the butter has melted and turns foamy and fragrant. Keep a close eye on it, as the browning happens quite rapidly towards the end of 6-8 minutes. Remove the butter to a small bowl and let it cool to room temperature.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beat:<\/strong> Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.\u00a0Add the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar to a large bowl and beat on high speed with a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until well combined, about 2-3 minutes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beat:<\/strong> Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and beat until combined. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Combine:<\/strong> In a separate bowl, sift or whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.\u00a0Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until combined.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Roll Dough Balls:<\/strong> Use a medium cookie scoop (about 2 \u00bd tablespoons) to scoop the cookie dough, then roll them into uniform balls with your hands. Roll each ball of dough in a small bowl with \u00bc cup of granulated sugar until fully coated.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bake:<\/strong> Place the dough on the prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between them. Bake for 11-13 minutes until the edges have set, but the centers still look quite underbaked.
