It looks like Lorne Michaels won\u2019t be enjoying quiet weekends at home anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Yes, it\u2019s been widely rumored that the Saturday Night Live<\/a> creator would step down at the end of the show\u2019s upcoming 50th season.<\/p>\n

But in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Michaels reveals that he plans to continue helming SNL for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

\u201c[SNL is] always going to be described the same way, which is \u2018uneven,\u2019 and yet people have decided somehow that it\u2019s important,\u201d Michaels said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so as long as it\u2019s important and I can be useful, I\u2019ll stay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yes, it sounds like Michaels is planning to hang around for quite some time.<\/p>\n

We suppose that\u2019s good news if you\u2019re a fan of SNL\u2019s recent seasons.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s a bit of a bummer for those of us who were hoping to see Tina Fey<\/a> fulfill her Liz Lemon destiny by succeeding her gruff mentor and becoming NBC\u2019s next sketch show impresario.<\/p>\n

Michaels first hinted that he might stick around in a June interview with The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to do it as long as I feel I can do it. But I rely on other people and always have,\u201d he said at the time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first piece of surprising news surrounding the iconic sketch show\u2019s milestone season.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, fans were floored by some unexpected casting shakeups, including news that beloved Season 49 featured player Chloe Troast<\/a> would not be returning.<\/p>\n

But such personnel changes are an annual tradition in Studio 8H.<\/p>\n
