Last week, our team<\/a> took a trip to Seattle, and oh my gosh, what a gorgeous part of the world. The water! The pine trees! The coffee! Here are a few photos, if you\u2019d like to see\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Kate<\/p>\n

First off, Jannelle Sanchez, Maureen Heffernan, Kaitlyn Teer and I<\/a>\u00a0met up with the poet Kate Baer<\/a> in Seattle for a Big Salad event<\/a>. Kate\u2019s poems<\/a> have always made us laugh and cry (\u201cI\u2019m a cool poet,\u201d she joked during our talk), and it was really fun to hang out together, eat smoked fish dip, discuss reality TV, and try on lipsticks at Sephora, as one does. <\/p>\n

\"Harrys<\/p>\n

On the first night, we had a delicious dinner at Harry\u2019s Fine Foods<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Harrys<\/p>\n

\u2026and then stayed at their guest house<\/a> next door. How GORGEOUS is this bedroom with all the matching fabrics?<\/p>\n

My bedroom had a giant tub\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Harrys<\/p>\n

\u2026and we swooned over the design details, like this tugboat hook (which I think is by Nickey Kehoe<\/a>?). When we first arrived, I said, \u201cI love seeing all the little things,\u201d and Kaitlyn said, \u201cYes! Let\u2019s go corner by corner!\u201d Such a treat.<\/p>\n

\"Julian<\/p>\n

One of the owners \u2013 Julian<\/a> \u2014 stopped by with a bottle of wine in the evening. How cute is he?<\/p>\n

\"big<\/p>\n

On our second day, we were excited to host a Big Salad event<\/a>, where Kate and I talked about everything from parenting advice to orgasms to female friendship. (You can hear a live recording here<\/a>, if you\u2019d like; it\u2019s free for everyone.) We LOVED spending time with friends and readers there. I always get choked up at in-person events.<\/p>\n

In other news, my dress matched the bathroom!<\/p>\n

\"Seattle<\/p>\n

The next day, we went on a team adventure to the San Juan Islands. We took a SEA PLANE, which terrified us all\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Seattle<\/p>\n

But once we were up in the air, the flight felt dreamy and otherworldly. We saw a whale and Kaitlyn wept.<\/p>\n

\"Roche<\/p>\n

We landed in Roche Harbor after about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What a magical place. Have you ever been there? Do you go often?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Our marketing director Maureen\u2019s family has lived in Seattle for five generations, and her dad drove us around in his boat. He told us about the history, complete with classic dad quotes, like \u201cAre you a little cold? Well\u2026you\u2019ll be fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since our editors \u2014\u00a0like Kaitlyn<\/a>, above \u2014 live on the west coast, it\u2019s always a treat to see each other in person.<\/p>\n

And the wonderful Jannelle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"San<\/p>\n

The air smelled like pine and seaweed, and you could hear water lapping and birds all around.<\/p>\n

Finally, as we returned to Seattle, we spotted hot tubs boats on the lake! How hilarious is that? (The boys<\/a> would flip.) We adored Seattle \u2014 thank you so much to the glorious city for such a wonderful stay.<\/p>\n
