Mariah Carey<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is in mourning.<\/p>\n The “We Belong Together” singer shared\u00a0that her mother\u00a0P<\/strong>atricia<\/strong>\u00a0Hickey<\/strong><\/a> and\u00a0her sister\u00a0Alison\u00a0Carey<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0have died, with both of them passing on the same day.\u00a0<\/p>\n “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” Mariah told E! News in an Aug. 26 statement. “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”<\/p>\n The 55-year-old continued, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”<\/p>\n “I appreciate everyone’s love and support,” Mariah added, “and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”<\/p>\n Mariah didn’t share additional information, including Patricia and Alison’s causes of death.<\/p>\n Patricia was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach. She went on to marry\u00a0Alfred Roy Carey<\/strong>, welcoming three children\u2014Morgan, Alison and Mariah\u2014before divorcing when Mariah was 3 years old.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
