There\u2019s nothing like a good horror movie to make you shudder in your shoes, or a cheesy one to make you laugh in dark delight.<\/p>\n
If you love the horror genre, you\u2019ll take them all.<\/p>\n
And Shudder brings them to you \u2014 the good, the bad, and the ugly \u2014 all neatly packed in one place for your screaming \u2014 er, streaming \u2014 enjoyment.<\/p>\n Not only does the streaming service serve up a vast collection of horror movies<\/a> and TV shows from the past and present, including both Hollywood and cult classics, it also delights viewers with a slew of original programming.<\/p>\n The upcoming Horror\u2019s Greatest docuseries and the uber popular variety show, The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs are just two examples.<\/p>\n Add in original film productions such as Late Night with the Devil, Christmas Bloody Christmas, and the V\/H\/S franchise reboot, it\u2019s easy to see why Shudder is the king of horror streaming.<\/p>\n What I love most about Shudder, as a horror fan, is that everything is in one place.<\/p>\n With the multitude of streaming services available and the vast movie and TV show libraries to go along with them, sometimes it becomes a living nightmare<\/a> digging around trying to find something new to watch.<\/p>\n With Shudder, you know what you\u2019re getting because it\u2019s all horror, all the time. <\/p>\n In other words, a horror lovers dream come true.<\/p>\n An added bonus is that sometimes you\u2019ll dig up movies you forgot existed until they pop up as you\u2019re scrolling through Shudder\u2019s catalog of films.<\/p>\n And because they rotate their collection regularly, there is always something new to sink your teeth into, or an old favorite to rewatch. <\/p>\n Their catalog is also curated by an actual human being, a big plus in this age of AI and computer-generated<\/a> everything. <\/p>\n What that means is Shudder has programming that is watchable, unlike some of the garbage you step into on other streaming services when you click on a horror movie or show that looks appealing but turns out to be anything but.<\/p>\n One of the most entertaining ways to watch Shudder\u2019s collection is with Joe Bob Briggs and his Last Drive-In show.<\/p>\n He\u2019s a Shudder staple, but I never bothered to check him out until recently and, wow, what a blast.<\/p>\n I honestly didn\u2019t think I would like the show because I thought it was going to be something similar to Mystery Science Theater<\/a> with people talking over the film, but it\u2019s not that at all.<\/p>\n It\u2019s kind of like a Svengoolie or Elvira, but better. Seriously.<\/p>\n Along with Darcy the Mail Girl, he does his schtick before, during, and after whatever film or films he decides to showcase.<\/p>\n Some of the films are classic and cult films you\u2019ve already seen. <\/p>\n Others are ones you might never have heard of, so being able to discover new movies in this fashion is an added bonus.<\/p>\n And even if you don\u2019t like the featured film, you\u2019re going to get some enjoyment out of it just because of the way Joe Bob Briggs presents it.<\/p>\n The Last Drive-In is set up like a late night talk show and sometimes he has guests, including actors from whatever film is being featured. <\/p>\n But it\u2019s the interaction between Joe Bob and Darcy that is most amusing. <\/p>\n He\u2019s extremely blunt and she\u2019s extremely \u201cinnocent,\u201d especially when she gets indignant about things like hunting rabbits.<\/p>\n Is it cheesy? Of course.<\/p>\n But Joe Bob provides such interesting insight into the upcoming film that you want<\/em> to watch it with him \u2014 and stick around to see what other knowledge he decides to share during breaks.<\/p>\n His trademark and a highlight of the show is \u201cDrive-In Totals\u201d where he totals up notable moments<\/a> throughout the movie, including kills, oddities, body parts, and other fun facts and trivia.<\/p>\n It\u2019s like a little game you can play with yourself while watching to see if you can catch everything he pointed out.<\/p>\n \n![\"Sleepaway](\"https:\/\/cdn.tvfanatic.com\/uploads\/2024\/08\/TVF-Horizontal-1024x576-4.jpg\")
