Billy Horschel, who finished tied for second at The Open Championship last weekend, withdrew from the 3M Open on Thursday in Blaine, Minn.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Alternate Adam Long was inserted into the field in place of Horschel, who cited illness over social media for his reason to withdraw from the tournament.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

“Unfortunately, had to withdraw from 3M Open,” Horschel wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Woke up with a fever, body aches, and back just locked up. Tried to warm up and give it a go but body just wouldn’t let it happen. Really disappointed to WD as my family and I enjoyed it here last year and we were hoping to improve on a T-12 finish from last year. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n

“Sorry to 3M and everyone involved with the event. Apologize to the fans as well. Thank you for all the support the last couple days while I was out preparing for this week. Once again I’m sorry!!”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Horschel, 37, won the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic in April and is ranked 26th in the FedEx Cup standings.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\n

Long, 36, has one career win and is ranked 219th in the FedEx Cup standings. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n
