<\/a><\/div>\nLast night, I went on a date that started off well. We met at a beautiful Brooklyn bar<\/a> and ordered a great cheese plate and two drinks. But when my wine arrived, you guys, it was\u2026natural.<\/p>\n Of course, I realize that natural wine is cool these days. New York Magazine<\/a> calls it \u201ca wine-list must-have.\u201d Bon Appetit<\/a> describes the vibe as \u201cfun, unfussy, and a little tipsy.\u201d A New York Times writer<\/a> announced, \u201cNatural wine is my self-care.\u201d<\/p>\n So, what am I missing??? I want to be cool! The wine is just so sour<\/em>. Last night, my drink tasted like my kids had hosted a lemonade stand, then left the container in the fridge for a few weeks, until I took an unsuspecting sip. To be fair, the flavor grew on me throughout the evening, but not as much as the uncool regular wine that I\u2019ve loved my entire adult life, is that too much to ask for?<\/p>\n One person who does<\/em> understand is my dad. When he visited last Thanksgiving, I poured him a glass of a natural wine that a guest had brought. \u201cTry this,\u201d I told him, curious what he\u2019d think. His immediate reaction? He spat it into the sink, and instead of saying, \u201cHmmm, not for me,\u201d or \u201cI suppose I prefer others,\u201d he looked up with panicked eyes and asked, \u201cWHY WOULD THEY MAKE THAT.\u201d<\/p>\n Jake Cornell\u2019s reels<\/a> about natural wine always make me laugh.<\/em><\/p>\n So! Just for fun on this sweltering Wednesday, tell me: What\u2019s something popular you just don\u2019t get? Mustaches<\/a>? Sharing food<\/a>? Love Actually<\/a>?<\/strong> (And to be clear, I really loved the bar<\/a>, and my date himself was extremely cute!)<\/p>\n P.S.
