Earlier this week, the folks at NBC kicked off premiere date season by announcing the network\u2019s 2024 fall schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, FX has followed suit with a slate of new and returning shows that\u2019s got us counting down the days until autumn!<\/p>\n

The always-innovative network is offering up a mix of intriguing new projects, beloved veteran shows, and compelling documentaries.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a fan of prestige programming, then you probably know that FX has been absolutely killing it in recent years, with top-tier series like Shogun and The Bear.<\/p>\n

Despite initially being billed as a limited series, Shogun has been renewed for a second season.<\/a><\/p>\n

And it\u2019s been reported that The Bear<\/a> Season 4 has already been filmed, though there\u2019s been no official confirmation on that front.<\/p>\n

Whatever the case, neither series was included in today\u2019s announcement, which focused primarily on new shows, a promising sophomore series, and some intriguing documentary projects.<\/p>\n

So without further ado, let\u2019s dive in and see what\u2019s on the menu.<\/p>\n

English Teacher<\/h2>\n

A comedy series in which creator Brian Jordan Alvarez plays a high school teacher in Austin.<\/p>\n

According to the description from FX, Alvarez \u201coften finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school.\u201d<\/p>\n

The logline is giving us Abbott Elementary<\/a> vibes, which isn\u2019t a bad thing!<\/p>\n

\u201cEvan wants to be a principled person but often runs into trouble because of it. By Evan\u2019s side at Morrison-Hensley High is his friend group of other teachers,\u201d reads a press release issued today.<\/p>\n

\u201cChief among them is his best friend \u2018Gwen Sanders\u2019 (Stephanie Koenig), the eager and optimistic history teacher who tends to see the best in people, even when she probably shouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen there\u2019s PE teacher \u2018Markie Hillridge\u2019 (Sean Patton). When they aren\u2019t disagreeing, Markie and Evan share a genuine bond\u2026 but they\u2019re usually disagreeing,\u201d the announcement continues.<\/p>\n

Evan\u2019s ex-boyfriend \u2018Malcolm\u2019 (Jordan Firstman) is a former teacher at Morrison. <\/p>\n

\u201cWild and free-thinking, Malcolm often draws Evan back into a pseudo-relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

The eight-episode first season of English Teacher is set to premiere on Monday, September 2.<\/p>\n

The Old Man (Season 2)<\/h2>\n

Up next is the second season of the Jeff Bridges-John Lithgow spy thriller The Old Man<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFormer CIA agent \u2018Dan Chase\u2019 (Bridges) and former FBI Assistant Director \u2018Harold Harper\u2019 (JohnLithgow) set off on their most important mission to date \u2014 to recover \u2018Emily Chase\u2019 (Alia Shawkat) after she is kidnapped by \u2018Faraz Hamzad\u2019 (Navid Negahban), a powerful Afghan tribal leader,\u201d reads today\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all three men claiming her as their daughter, Emily finds herself in an identity crisis that has dire implications,\u201d the statement continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Chase and Harper fight their way to get to Emily, Hamzad is forced to make decisions that could endanger his family and the village he has led faithfully for a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first season of The Old Man received widespread acclaim, with many critics praising the chemistry between Bridges and Lithgow.<\/p>\n

The Old Man Season 2 is set to premiere on Thursday, September 12.<\/p>\n

American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez<\/h2>\n

Described as a \u201cnew limited series franchise,\u201d this 10-part drama will focus on the sad, strange case of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.<\/p>\n

After being convicted of murder in 2015, Hernandez was charged with two additional homicides.<\/p>\n

He was acquitted of the later charges but hung himself in his prison cell the following day.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s set to debut on FX on Tuesday, September 17.<\/p>\n

The network also announced a docuseries entitled Social Studies, which will focus on the impact of social media on young people.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve also developed Lie to Fly, a one-off New York Times-produced documentary that\u2019s set to debut on August 23.<\/p>\n

The film will focus on an attempted Alaska Airlines hijacking that took place in 2023.<\/p>\n
