Well, our moment has finally come. \u201cYour Daily Olympic Recap on Peacock\u201d will let you choose your favorite sports and highlight types for the 2024 Summer Olympics, and an AI-generated Michaels will read a 10-minute customized recap of the previous day\u2019s events based on your preferences.<\/p>\n

Even the clone\u2019s subtle rhythms and intonations sound distinctly like him.<\/p>\n NBCUniversal says it trained AI Al on Michaels\u2019 past appearances on NBC. The 79-year-old currently calls play-by-play for Amazon\u2019s Thursday Night Football<\/a> and holds an emeritus role for NBC Sports, where he\u2019s worked since 2006.<\/p>\n Peacock\u2019s recaps will draw from what it says will be 5,000 hours of live coverage from this summer\u2019s games. They will cover up to 40 concurrent daily Olympic events and have the potential for \u201cnearly 7 million personalized variants.\u201d<\/p>\n NBCUniversal says its editors will review all of the customized content \u2014 including audio and clips \u2014 before sending it to users. If enough people sign up, that sounds like quite the undertaking. But given the embarrassing mistakes<\/a> we\u2019ve seen previous AI gimmicks make, it\u2019s probably a wise choice.<\/p>\n You can opt into the recaps starting on July 27, when the first edition will summarize the previous day\u2019s Opening Ceremony.
