Hollywood is mourning a huge loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Donald Sutherland<\/strong><\/a>, whose acting career spanned over seven decades, has died following a long illness, his son and fellow actor Kiefer Sutherland<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>confirmed. He was 88.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film,” Kiefer wrote of his father in a June 20 Instagram post,<\/a> over a black and white image of the two from the\u00a024 <\/em>alum’s childhood.\u00a0“Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”<\/p>\n Though Kiefer didn’t share a cause of death,\u00a0Deadline\u00a0<\/em>reports Donald passed away after a long illness. E! News is out reps for both the father and son\u00a0but has not yet heard back.\u00a0<\/p>\n Across his many years in Hollywood, Donald\u2014who was also father to CAA\u00a0Media Finance executive Roeg Sutherland<\/strong>\u2014earned\u00a0numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe for Citizen X\u00a0<\/em>in 1995,\u00a0a Golden Globe\u00a0for\u00a0Path to War<\/em>\u00a0in 2002, and a Critics Choice Award in 2020 for The Undoing<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
