Clickbait. \u00a0<\/p>\n After headlines insinuated the\u00a010 Things I Hate About You\u00a0<\/em>actor was once a cult leade<\/a>r, Andrew finally decided to set the record straight<\/a>. Now, he’s reflecting on why he chose to speak to the rumors with friend\u00a0Danielle Fishel<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in the first place.<\/p>\n “We were doing the podcast for\u00a0Pod\u00a0Meets\u00a0World<\/em>, and Danielle is a dear friend and we were just having a very friend to friend conversation on the podcast,” he exclusively told E! News at 90s Con March 16<\/a>. “It wasn’t intended to necessarily spread\u2014people were excited about it. But yeah it’s an interesting situation.”<\/p>\n He added, “I really focused in that conversation about how it’s really clickbait. They use a word like cult and make it something more than it really is.”<\/p>\n So what was it, really, when the \u201890s star\u00a0bought an abandoned\u00a0temple in 2014 to\u00a0host a series of spiritual gatherings?<\/p>\n “There was this interesting group of hippie types, if you will, in Venice,” Andrew explained in the Feb. 12 podcast episode<\/a>. “I was connected with some folks and we had this opportunity. This old Hare Krishna Temple, it was sitting there empty and we were like, \u2018Why don’t we get some people together, and let’s open this place up?'”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
