Gameloft, the company behind Disney games Dreamlight Valley<\/em><\/a><\/span> <\/em>and Speedstorm<\/em><\/a><\/span>, has announced that it is working on a Dungeons & Dragons<\/em> life-sim RPG that will be set in the Forgotten Realms, the same universe in which <\/em>Baldur\u2019s Gate III<\/em><\/a><\/span> (and many other D&D <\/em>adventures) take place.<\/p>\n

Last year, Baldur\u2019s Gate III<\/em> became one of the biggest games on the planet thanks to its fantastic writing, intense combat and, let\u2019s be honest, all the sexy stuff you could do in it. Folks became enamored with the game\u2019s characters and relationships, with tons of fan fiction and artwork pouring out of Baldur\u2019s Gate III\u2019<\/em>s community ever since. It also didn\u2019t hurt that in recent years, Dungeons & Dragons-<\/em>–a long-running tabletop RPG franchise<\/a><\/span>\u2014has become bigger than ever thanks to popular internet shows that use the game as a foundation for comedy and storytelling. So, it\u2019s not shocking to see that another video game company is partnering with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast\u2014the companies who own D&D<\/em>\u2014to create a new video game set in the same fictional universe as BG3.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

On March 14, Gameloft announced<\/a><\/span> that it was partnering with Wizards of the Coast to publish a new D&D<\/em> game on consoles and PC. Specifically, it\u2019s being developed by Gameloft Montreal, the same folks who worked on Disney Dreamlight Valley<\/em><\/a><\/span> and Star Wars: Castaways<\/em>. This upcoming, still-untitled game will feature \u201cunique cooperative gameplay.\u201d Gameloft says it will be a \u201chybrid\u201d of survival, life sims, and action RPGs. That sounds like, if done well, it could be exactly the kind of thing Baldur\u2019s Gate III <\/em>fans would love.<\/p>\n
