The Galaxy A55 and A35 have 6.6-inch Super AMOLED displays. For the first time in its budget handsets, the company included Knox Vault, a walled-off security section that debuted in the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/samsung-galaxy-s21-review-camera-samples-screen-specs-160033680-160056054.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Galaxy S21;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Galaxy S21<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/android-14-googles-release-dates-new-features-and-everything-else-you-need-to-know-150057490.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Android 14;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Android 14<\/a>-running phones have FHD+ (2220&#215;1080) displays (374 pixels per inch) and variable refresh rates up to 120Hz. Like <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/samsung-galaxy-a54-galaxy-a34-hands-on-pricing-release-date-090009335.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:last year\u2019s Galaxy A54;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">last year\u2019s Galaxy A54<\/a>, both include Samsung\u2019s Vision Booster feature, which adjusts the screen\u2019s tone mapping based on ambient lighting conditions. Their 6.6-inch diagonal measurements (not accounting for rounded corners) are a slight bump up from the A54\u2019s 6.4 inches.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung\u2019s official materials didn\u2019t list the phones\u2019 processors, but <em>Android Police<\/em> <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpolice.com\/samsung-galaxy-a55-a35-official\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:reports;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:6;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">reports<\/a> the A55 uses an Exynos 1480, while the A35 settles for a slower Exynos 1380. RAM comes in different configurations: 8GB or 12GB in the A55 and 6GB or 8GB in the cheaper A35. Your storage options are 128GB or 256GB in each handset, but only the A55 has a microSD card slot.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caas-figure\">\n<div class=\"caas-figure-with-pb\" style=\"max-height: 576px\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"caas-img-container caas-img-loader\" style=\"padding-bottom:60%\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caas-img caas-lazy has-preview\" alt=\"The Samsung Galaxy A35 against a plain white background. The pair has three rear cameras, each with a 50MP main camera and a 5MP macro lens. But the more expensive A55 uses a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, while the A35 has a more pedestrian 8MP ultra-wide lens. In addition, the A55 has a 32MP front-facing camera, compared to the A35\u2019s 13MP front shooter. Both use optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS) to offset camera shake.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, neither phone appears to include the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/samsungs-galaxy-s24-lineup-puts-generative-ai-front-and-center-180034530.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:generative AI features;cpos:7;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">generative AI features<\/a> Samsung uses to differentiate the Galaxy S24 series (and <a data-i13n=\"cpos:8;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/samsungs-new-galaxy-ai-features-are-coming-to-the-s23-and-last-years-foldables-210046981.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:older flagships, via software updates;cpos:8;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">older flagships, via software updates<\/a>). The closest you may get in this price range is the company\u2019s \u201cadvanced AI Image Signal Processing (ISP)\u201d for better photography in low-light conditions, included only on the A55.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung didn\u2019t list the phones\u2019 build material in its press release and official specs, but <em>Android Police<\/em> says the A55 is the company\u2019s first midrange phone with a metal frame. (Last year\u2019s Galaxy A54 used plastic.) Engadget reached out to Samsung to clarify, and we\u2019ll update this article if we hear back.<\/p>\n<p>The handsets each have a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung estimates two days of battery life, but this could vary greatly depending on usage.<\/p>\n<p>US pricing and launch dates aren\u2019t yet available. However, Samsung <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:9;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/uk\/galaxy-a55-5g-and-galaxy-a35-5g-awesome-innovations-and-security-engineered-for-everyone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:says;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:9;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">says<\/a> the A55 will start at \u00a3439 (US$562) in the UK, while the A35 will begin at \u00a3339 ($434).
