What\u2019s on your summer checklist? I\u2019m excited for lazy weekends with no plans other than listening out for the ice-cream truck. Here are 10 chill things the boys and I are looking forward to\u2026<\/p>\n

\"dirty<\/p>\n

1. Watch a popular movie you\u2019ve somehow never seen.<\/strong> I watched Dirty Dancing<\/a> for the first time a few summers ago, and this year I might check out a little film called Star Wars. Ever heard of it?<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

2. Sit in front of your house on a lawn chair<\/a>.<\/strong> My septuagenarian neighbors often do this, and we \u2014 and everyone else on the block \u2014 stop to chat whenever we pass by. Such a relaxed way to connect with people<\/a>.<\/p>\n

3. Fake a pretty glow.<\/strong> My skin is so pale it\u2019s almost blue, so for sundresses and skirts, I smooth on this award-winning lotion<\/a> a few times a week to give my arms and legs a golden glow. It\u2019s very natural-looking and easy to use. (Btw, if you have a wedding or party, they have a great instant version<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\"galettes<\/p>\n

4. Make galettes<\/a> your thing. <\/strong>Or cakes<\/a>. Or crumbles<\/a>. Or whatever treat you love.<\/p>\n

5. Read a big book.<\/strong> Our local bookstore, Liz\u2019s Book Bar<\/a>, posted a sign saying \u201cBig Book Summer\u201d above a table of doorstoppers like Lonesome Dove and Pachinko. How fun would it be to sink your teeth into a juicy read? If you\u2019re looking for a new release, I\u2019m currently devouring<\/em> Land<\/a> by Maggie O\u2019Farrell.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

6. Invite the little kids<\/a> in your life on a picnic.<\/strong> Nothing more exciting than sharing a PB&J on a blanket together.<\/p>\n

7. Paint your nails on a magazine.<\/strong> Right now I\u2019m into this chic neutral<\/a> and this bright red<\/a>. (What colors are you wearing?)<\/p>\n

8. Catch up with friends\/family.<\/strong> I\u2019ve always lived far from my siblings, parents, and other relatives \u2014\u00a0often an ocean away \u2014 so I love catch-up phone calls with aunts, cousins, and grandparents during the summer. For those who aren\u2019t into phone calls, maybe text each other your Wordle scores or try Catalogues<\/a>, the New Yorker<\/em> game that just came out today.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

9. Walk\/pet\/cuddle a friend\u2019s dog.<\/strong> Anton\u2019s forever favorite thing. xoxo<\/p>\n

10. Lastly, take a sofa nap with the fan on.<\/strong> I used to feel guilty about staying inside on nice days, until I realized that slowing down is the point of summer. Maybe eat a bowl of cereal? Take a cold shower and see how many seconds you last? Just listen to your mind and body and let yourself take a good ol\u2019 break.<\/p>\n
