Filmed in native 4K, this version of the musical includes the standard HDR10 and Dolby Vision support alongside a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Not too many extras are included in this release, but you can go behind the scenes of the production with documentaries that examine the early days of the musical and how hip-hop influences shaped this fresh spin on US history. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Billed as the story of America, Hamilton explores the life of Alexander Hamilton across the American Revolutionary War, his time as an aide to George Washington, his career, and the infamous duel against Aaron Burr that ultimately cost him his life. The story is told through a fusion of musical styles, including hip hop, rap, jazz, and more, to create a unique experience. This version of the musical is a compilation of several of the filmed performances from the 2016 run of Hamilton with its original principal cast. Major movie studios entered into a bidding war for the rights, with Disney eventually securing them in 2020 for $75 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original plan was for Hamilton to be released theatrically in 2021, but the Covid-19 pandemic saw plans change and the show was later released on Disney+ for the 2020 July 4 weekend.
