(Image: Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to the letter \u2014 a \u201cnotice of business closure and employment termination\u201d from the Primadonna Company,\u00a0 owned by Affinity Gaming\u2019s Primm Valley Resorts \u2014 Primm Valley Resort &amp; Casino, Buffalo Bill\u2019s Resort &amp; Casino, and Whiskey Pete\u2019s Hotel &amp; Casino \u201cwill be permanently closing its operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis action is expected to result in the permanent termination of employment for all employees at these locations,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p>Affinity \u2014 which purchased the three casinos from MGM Resorts for $400 million in 2007 \u2014 already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/whiskey-petes-casino-near-las-vegas-closing-after-47-years\/\">shuttered Whiskey Pete\u2019s<\/a> in December 2024, then switched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/buffalo-bills-is-latest-primm-nev-casino-to-close\/\">Buffalo Bill\u2019s<\/a> to event-only operation in July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Also announced in the new termination notice were the closures of the adjacent Primm Center gas station \/convenience store and Flying J truck stop.<\/p>\n<h2>Primm Reaper<\/h2>\n<p>The tiny town 40 miles south of Las Vegas on the California border has experienced a steady decline in business for the past 20 years, but the pandemic was a death blow.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_384286\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-384286\" data-style=\"width: 1478px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-384286\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/better-times-858x286.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"1478\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/better-times-858x286.webp 858w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/better-times-430x143.webp 430w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/better-times.webp 1111w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1478px) 100vw, 1478px\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-384286\" class=\"text-description\">The Primm Valley Resorts empire in better times. (Image: Primm Valley Resorts)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Primm Valley Resort &amp; Casino was so empty on July 18, 2024 that Lydia Salmen, 70, was able to enter its unstaffed cage and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/new-details-emerge-about-casino-bank-robbing-las-vegas-couple\/\"><strong>make off with $625K in currency and $27K in casino chips.<\/strong><\/a> (She and her husband, John, were only caught because their Nissan hatchback was videotaped by a police body cam during an unrelated visit to the property the month before.)<\/p>\n<p>Primm\u2019s 371K square-foot outlet mall, which opened as the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas in 1998, has become a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/once-thriving-mall-outside-las-vegas-soon-to-be-completely-abandoned\/\">nearly abandoned relic<\/a>\u00a0populated mostly by YouTube livestreamers.<\/p>\n<p>Primm Valley Resorts\u2019 letter noted the terminated employees \u201cdo not have bumping rights,\u201d referring to a contractual provision allowing senior employees whose positions have been eliminated to displace less senior employees from their positions.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, next to the words \u201cUnion Representation,\u201d the letter reminded its recipients that they had \u201cnone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour employment is expected to end on or around July 4, 2026,\u201d the letter read. \u201cAll affected employees are not expected to be recalled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A request for comment from Affinity Gaming was not immediately returned.
