Doing either of these things will mean your ballot will not be postmarked on Election Day and won\u2019t be counted when it reaches your county\u2019s election office.<\/p>\n<h2>Can I drop off my ballot in a drop box or at a voting location?<\/h2>\n<p>Once you complete your mail-in ballot, you can drop it off at an official drop box or voting location instead of mailing it via a U.S. Postal Service collection box. These drop boxes will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.ca.gov\/elections\/upcoming-elections\/primary-election-june-2-2026\">open by May 5.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A few reasons you might prefer to hand-deliver your completed ballot:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Peace of mind:<\/strong> There\u2019s a satisfaction that comes with knowing your ballot should now travel straight to your county elections office rather than going through USPS collection and sorting for delivery<\/li>\n<li><strong>Timing:<\/strong> If it\u2019s Election Day itself, using a drop box or a voting location to drop off your ballot is the best way to be sure it\u2019ll reach your county elections office in time to be counted<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assistance:<\/strong> If you drop off your ballot at a voting location during operating hours and you have a few lingering questions about your ballot or the process, chances are good that you\u2019ll find someone there to help answer them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regardless of how you deliver it, you can<a href=\"https:\/\/california.ballottrax.net\/voter\/\"> sign up to track your ballot\u2019s progress with the \u201cWhere\u2019s My Ballot?\u201d online tool<\/a> and be reassured it\u2019s on its way to being counted.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"HowtofindyourpollingplaceonElectionDay\"\/>Where can I vote in person on Election Day?<\/h2>\n<p>On Election Day, in-person voting is still available at every county registrar\u2019s office (also known as your county\u2019s elections office) in the Bay Area. If you\u2019re issued a new ballot when you vote in person, any ballot you left at home will be canceled.<\/p>\n<p>Provisional votes are subject to extra checks \u2014 confirming that you\u2019re actually registered to vote in California, or that you didn\u2019t already complete and mail your ballot \u2014 and this extra layer of confirmation takes time. That means that although your vote will eventually be counted, it might not be tallied on Election Day itself.<\/p>\n<h2>I still need to register to vote. What should I do?
