A Democratic congressman had harsh criticism for Polymarket<\/a> for allowing users to bet on the date the United States would confirm the rescue of Air Force service members shot down over Iran.<\/p>\n In a social media post<\/a> on Friday, Representative Seth Moulton wrote, \u201cThey could be your neighbor, a friend, a family member. And people are betting on whether or not they\u2019ll be saved. This is DISGUSTING.\u201d (President Donald Trump announced early Sunday that the second service member, a weapons system officer, has been rescued<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Moulton also described Polymarket as a \u201cdystopian death market\u201d and noted that Donald Trump Jr. is an investor<\/a>. The congressman recently banned his staff from participating in prediction markets<\/a> like Polymarket and Kalshi.\u00a0<\/p>\n Polymarket responded<\/a> that it had taken the market down \u201cimmediately\u201d for not meeting the company\u2019s integrity standards.<\/p>\n \u201cIt should not have been posted, and we are investigating how this slipped through our internal safeguards,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n Polymarket previously saw hundreds of millions of dollars traded on contracts tied to the bombing of Iran<\/a> by the United States and Israel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
