Amazon has confirmed that it has acquired Fauna Robotics, a two-year-old startup founded by former Meta and Google engineers who are developing kid-size humanoid robots for the home.<\/p>\n
The acquisition was first reported by Bloomberg<\/a>. Terms of the deal weren\u2019t disclosed. What we do know is that Fauna\u2019s employees, including its two founders, will join Amazon in New York City.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are excited about Fauna\u2019s vision to build capable, safe, and fun robots for everyone,\u201d an Amazon spokesperson wrote in an emailed statement. \u201cTogether with Amazon\u2019s robotics expertise and decades of experience earning customer trust in the home through our retail and devices businesses, we\u2019re looking forward to inventing new ways to make our customers\u2019 lives better and easier.\u201d<\/p>\n Fauna began shipping its first product, a 59-pound bipedal robot called Sprout<\/a>, earlier this year to select research and development partners.<\/p>\n This is Amazon\u2019s second robotics acquisition \u2014 at least, that we know about \u2014 this month. Amazon confirmed to TechCrunch earlier this month that it has also acquired Rivr<\/a>, a Zurich-based autonomous robotics startup known for its stair-climbing delivery robot. Terms of that deal wasn\u2019t disclosed either.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
