Apple\u2019s new MacBook Neo<\/a> isn\u2019t just the most affordable MacBook by far \u2014 it\u2019s also the most repairable MacBook in \u201cabout fourteen years,\u201d according to an in-depth teardown<\/a> by how-to website iFixit.<\/p>\n The \u201cbig story,\u201d in iFixit\u2019s view, is the battery. While older MacBook batteries are supposedly glued into place, the Neo\u2019s battery is held by a tray secured with 18 screws. That\u2019s a lot of screws, but iFixit declared that \u201cscrews still beat adhesive every time.\u201d In fact, this new arrangement \u2014 which should make it much easier to replace your MacBook battery \u2014\u00a0 \u201csent cheers across the iFixit office.\u201d<\/p>\n Other changes that reportedly make the MacBook Neo more repairable: a flat disassembly tree, the fact that Repair Assistant appears to accept replacement parts without complaint, and an easier-to-replace display and keyboard.<\/p>\n Ultimately, iFixit still had enough concerns \u2014 like soldered RAM and storage \u2014 that it only gave the Neo repairability score of 6 out of 10.
