The introduction of the Nintendo Wii forever changed the gaming landscape, Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was still an unknown name as she launched her debut\u00a0album, Heroes<\/em>\u2019 first season\u00a0<\/em>and the March of the Penguins <\/em>documentary captivated audiences. Plus,\u00a0Twitter made its debut while Facebook finally breached the market beyond college campuses\u00ad\u2014and backing it all was Daniel Powter<\/strong>\u2019s iconic one hit wonder, \u201cBad Day.\u201d<\/p>\n And, much like the app we\u2019ve come to now know as X (Twitter, you\u2019ll never be forgotten), in 2006 the Actor Awards<\/a> still went by a different name: the SAG Awards.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n As for which stars were recognized by their fellow Screen Actors Guild members, it was a diverse selection, with no film earning more than one award during the January ceremony.<\/p>\n Philip Seymour Hoffman<\/strong>\u00a0and Reese Witherspoon<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0won lead actor\u2014Philip for his work in Capote and Reese for Walk the Line<\/em>\u2014while Cinderella Man<\/em>\u2019s Paul Giamatti <\/strong>and The Constant Gardener<\/em>\u2019s Rachel Weisz <\/strong>won for their supporting work.\u00a0<\/p>\n Meanwhile Crash<\/em>\u2014which would go on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards that year\u2014won for its ensemble work, with a cast including Sandra Bullock<\/strong><\/a>, Thandiwe Newton<\/strong>, Matt Dillon<\/strong>, Don Cheadle <\/strong>and Brendan Fraser<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
