The stars may be looking back on 2016, but 2006 will forever be iconic.<\/p>\n
Specifically the 2006 Grammys<\/a>.\u00a0That year\u2019s ceremony is hard to forget considering its electric start\u2014for the opening performance, Madonna<\/strong><\/a> took to the stage with Gorillaz<\/strong> and De La Soul<\/strong>, performing a high-energy mashup of \u201cFeel Good Inc.\u201d and \u201cHung Up.\u201d<\/p>\n The host-less ceremony was chock-full of memorable moments, including Mariah Carey<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s spellbinding performance of \u201cWe Belong Together.\u201d The \u201cSongbird Supreme\u201d was feeling all the emotions after taking home three golden gramophones, including one for Best Contemporary R&B Album.\u00a0<\/p>\n However, it\u2019s hard to believe anybody had a better night than U2<\/strong><\/a>. The Irish rock band\u2014whose members include Bono<\/strong><\/a>, the Edge<\/strong>, Adam Clayton<\/strong>\u00a0and Larry Mullen Jr.<\/strong>\u2014won all five categories they were nominated for, including Album of the Year for How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb<\/em>. The group certainly blew audiences away with an explosive performance of their hit song \u201cVertigo.\u201d<\/p>\n With celebrities like Paula Abdul<\/strong><\/a>, Fergie<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and Kanye West<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>the ceremony was packed with peak mid-aughts\u00a0fashion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
