The year-over-year net loss equated to about 3.46 million fewer passengers through LAS\u2019 two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/major-us-airports-want-join-las-vegas-reno-offering-slot-machines\/\">passenger terminals<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The slowdown in 2025 followed two record-setting years, during which passenger counts climbed to 58.44 million in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Following two record-setting years, Harry Reid International Airport served nearly 55 million passengers in 2025 \u2014 the third-highest annual total in the airport\u2019s history. This achievement underscores Las Vegas\u2019 enduring appeal as a world-class destination for leisure, business, and special events,\u201d the airport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harryreidairport.com\/newsroom\/news-articles\/las-serves-nearly-55-million-in-2025\">said of the report<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cDespite aviation industry-wide challenges, the airport maintained seamless operations during a federal government shutdown and became a national leader in supporting federal workers with a donated food and essentials pantry,\u201d the statistics release continued. The airport added that LAS continued to focus on enhancing the passenger experience throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Las Vegas Turbulence<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Las Vegas tourism suffered in 2025. The Las Vegas Convention &amp; Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reported earlier this week that visitor volume was down 7.5% for the year, a net loss of more than 3.12 million guests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">The tourism decline led to stagnant gaming on the Las Vegas Strip. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/nevada-casino-revenue-hits-record-high-2025\/\">Gross gaming revenue<\/a> was up a trivial 0.03% to approximately $8.81 billion. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Traffic wasn\u2019t quite as bad at the airport. LAS officials are optimistic about the year ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAs the city looks ahead to even busier years, 2025 stands as a testament to Las Vegas\u2019s status as a top travel hub, connecting millions to the excitement of the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World,\u201d the airport release concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Southwest remained LAS\u2019 top airline, accounting for 21.8 million passengers. Delta was a distant second at 5.2 million passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Not All Stay in Las Vegas<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The LAS numbers do not include layovers, as an arriving or departing passenger is considered one who goes through security.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">However, all international arrivals count, as they must go through the customs\/immigration process upon arrival, regardless of whether Las Vegas is their final destination. For international travelers connecting through Las Vegas to another domestic city, their flights still count as an official LAS arrival. The same goes for departing international layovers through Las Vegas.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">International traffic at Harry Reid isn\u2019t overly robust.
