Netflix has confirmed production on a new Korean TV series set in a casino, expanding its already dominant slate of Korean originals. The Dealer<\/em> is a high\u2011stakes crime drama produced by Hwang Dong\u2011hyuk, the creator of Netflix\u2019s global phenomenon Squid Game<\/em>, which remains the streamer\u2019s most\u2011watched series of all time.<\/p>\n

Netflix announced the project in Seoul, confirming that production is underway and that Hwang is producing through his company, Firstman Studio, the same banner behind Squid Game<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The K-drama centers on Jung So\u2011min (Love Reset<\/em>, Alchemy of Souls<\/em>, Love Next Door<\/em>), as Geonhwa, described by Netflix as \u201ca brilliant casino dealer whose wedding plans suddenly fall apart\u201d after she becomes the victim of a housing scam. In order to successfully make it down the aisle, she is forced to reenter the \u201cdangerous world of gambling\u201d she once left behind.<\/p>\n

As she attempts to salvage her future, Geonhwa must tap into \u201clong\u2011suppressed abilities\u201d (either a heightened intuition or supernatural perception) that give her an edge at the tables.<\/p>\n

Ryoo Seung\u2011bum (Good News<\/em>, Tazza: One Eyed Jack<\/em>, The Berlin File<\/em>) co\u2011stars as Hwang Chisu, a financially desperate gambler who survives hand\u2011to\u2011mouth on whatever he can win at the tables. He becomes entangled in Geonhwa\u2019s escalating scheme as the stakes rise.<\/p>\n

Lee Soo\u2011hyuk (S Line<\/em>, Queen Woo<\/em>) appears as Jo Jun, a formidable and unreadable casino player whose presence complicates every table he sits at. Ryu Kyung\u2011soo (The Bequeathed<\/em>, JUNG_E<\/em>, YADANG: The Snitch<\/em>) plays Choi Wooseung, Geonhwa\u2019s fianc\u00e9 \u2014 a gentle partner at home but a relentless detective at work, adding another layer of tension as Geonhwa descends deeper into the gambling underworld.<\/p>\n

The Dealer<\/em> marks the series\u2011directorial debut of Choi Young\u2011hwan, one of Korea\u2019s most respected cinematographers. His credits include major box\u2011office hits such as Smugglers<\/em>, Veteran<\/em>, Tazza: The High Rollers<\/em>, and The Thieves<\/em>. Young-hwan is widely praised for dynamic, kinetic visuals that elevate genre storytelling, and Netflix notes that he \u201cis set to bring the glitz, tension, and allure of the casino world to life.\u201d<\/p>\n
