Rob Reiner<\/a> <\/strong>and his wife of 36 years Michele Singer Reiner<\/strong>\u2014who produced the director’s recent s<\/em>equel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues<\/em>\u2014were found dead in an apparent homicide at their Los Angeles home<\/a> Dec. 14, a source close to the family confirmed to NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” his family said in a statement to Variety<\/em>. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”<\/p>\n The news sent shockwaves across the film community, with Elijah Wood<\/strong>\u2014who starred in Rob’s 1994<\/em> movie North\u2014writing on X (formerly Twitter)<\/a>, “Horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle [sic].”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Kathy Bates<\/strong> said Rob “changed the course of my life.”<\/span><\/p>\n “I loved Rob,” the Oscar winner, who worked with the filmmaker in 1990’s Misery<\/em>, told NBC in a statement<\/a>. “He was brilliant and kind, a man who made films of every genre to challenge himself as an artist.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
